Profiles in Life: Iningeh and Isau, the father and daughter duo.
A series of Profiles from our farmers in Papua New Guinea
Isau and Iningeh are a father and daughter team. They had lost their mother and wife when the Iningeh, was an infant, since then it has just been the two of them.
In subsistence living and coffee production in places like Marawaka and places along the coffee belt most of the labour is done by women, Iningeh, had to forego her primary school education so that she could assume this role of a woman and mother and support her father, Isau.
Most seasons, they harvest about 25 bags of coffee enough for a household of two to meet their needs for the year and contribute to traditional and extended family obligations.
Iningeh’s story is not a new story, this story is lived by many young women in rural places in Papua New Guinea especially the highlands.
